Registrar
The Registrar is here to help you throughout your time at CTS, from registering for your courses every semester or planning out your academic career at seminary to requesting a copy of your transcript. You can reach the Registrar by phone, email, or in person. Recognizing that students come to CTS with other life commitments, including work and family, the Registrar helps students find ways to accommodate a range of busy schedules and to honor diverse academic interests within the framework of each degree program.

Registration
You will register for courses on the Student Portal. For questions about the registration process, contact the Registrar. Keep an eye on your email for information about registration each term. Students who register after the regular registration period (generally in November for J-Term and Spring courses and in April for Summer and Fall courses) may not be able to take their first choice of courses.
Students interested in cross-registering with any of the ACTS seminaries should download the ACTS registration form, fill it out, and email it back to the Registrar. The ACTS course catalog, which includes all offerings of the consortium seminaries, is available on the ACTS website.
Extensions & Deferments
Students who need to request for an extension for incomplete coursework should submit a Petition for Extension before the end of the term. Fill out the top portion of the form and email it to your instructor to request an extension on your coursework. In cases where a professor grants an Incomplete without a Petition for Extension form on file with the Registrar, the standard Incomplete Policy applies.
Students who seek to defer previous federal loans should complete the below form, or the form provided by your lender, and provide it to the Registrar. Make sure to complete Sections 1-3 and Section 7.
Transcripts / Enrollment Verification / Diploma Replacement Requests
Order Transcripts
Chicago Theological Seminary has partnered with Parchment to order and send your transcript and other credentials securely.
Enrollment verification and diploma replacements are also available on Parchment.
If you don’t have an account with Parchment, you’ll need to create one and then proceed.
Health Insurance
All students are responsible for securing their own health insurance while at CTS. Students have the option to make use of the University of Chicago Major Medical Insurance.
INSURANCE OPTIONS
1.) Purchase insurance from the University of Chicago. Information about this plan is available on their website. This insurance includes access to the University of Chicago Student Clinic, but it is also costly. Under University of Chicago insurance, the Student Clinic will be your primary care provider. To purchase University of Chicago health insurance, contact Tina Shelton for an enrollment form.
2.) Purchase a less comprehensive but cheaper student plan. Please note, these plans may not meet the health insurance requirement under the Affordable Care Act. You would sign up for them. These are EJ Smith (www.ejsmith.com) and the UCC Pension Boards (only open to UCC students, www.pbucc.org).
3.) Purchase health insurance through the insurance exchanges set up as part of the Affordable Care Act. See the individual exchange site for your state of residence for more information.
Rights & Policies
Below, find CTS’s policy against discrimation and harassment in compliance with Title IX), and our FERPA policy. FERPA – the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act – is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.
